Nafis, a federal program, boosts Emirati workforce competitiveness in the UAE’s private sector for the next five years, as part of the “Projects of the 50” advancing the nation’s development.

Nafis targets Emirati job seekers, private sector employees, including those in the banking and financial sectors, aged 18 and above. Private sector companies employing Emirati nationals are also included.

Nafis initiatives encompass every sector and domain within the private sector.

Nafis was initiated in September 2021, and program registration has been conducted in multiple phases. For additional information regarding its programs, please visit the Nafis Initiatives page at nafis.gov.ae.

  1. Talent Development Program:

    • This program focuses on enhancing the skills of national professionals to train Emiratis and equip them with specialized competencies to achieve international professional certifications.
  2. National Healthcare Initiative:

    • The National Healthcare Program’s objective is to cultivate local expertise in nursing. It achieves this through scholarships, the health assistant program for high school graduates, diploma/higher diploma programs in emergency medicine, and bachelor’s programs in nursing. Over the next five years, it aims to prepare and empower 10,000 Emirati citizens in the healthcare sector.
  3. Apprenticeship Program:

    • The Apprenticeship Program is a 12-month training initiative that offers financial incentives in collaboration with private and semi-governmental entities. It supports the skill development of Emirati graduates across diverse sectors.
  4. Career Counseling Services:

    • This service offers career guidance and counseling to assist individuals in discovering their aptitudes, exploring career opportunities, and identifying suitable career paths. It also provides guidance on crafting effective CVs, mastering interview techniques, and understanding workplace ethics.

The Talent Program partners are the Abu Dhabi Global Market Academy and CERT, while the Nursing Sector Cadres Development Program is led by the Fatima College of Health Sciences. Private and semi-private companies will oversee the Apprenticeship Program, and the Career Counseling Program falls under the Federal Youth Foundation. These programs are coordinated by the Emirati Cadres Competitiveness Council.
